Cairns Regional Gallery
Experience the vibrant visual arts of Tropical North Queensland in this elegant heritage building in the heart of Cairns. Construction of the former Public Curators Building was completed in 1936 - a stately two story building of brick and stone. In 1995, the building was renovated and re-opened as the Cairns Regional Gallery.
Cairns Regional Gallery hosts exhibitions of fine arts from major Australian and international collections covering historical and contemporary art including the work of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.
Cairns Regional Gallery’s Public Programs consist of workshops, forums, guided tours, children’s activities and an education program designed specifically for schools and tertiary education centres.
Public Programs are accessed by all ages, from 2 year olds to adults.
- Holiday workshops are offered during every school holiday period. Workshops are hosted by local artists and based on exhibitions on display in the Gallery.
- Tiny Tacker T Days are designed for 2-5 year olds. Young children with their carers are treated to a morning of art appreciation, story telling and a creative activity.
- Kids Art Days are held throughout the school term on Saturday afternoons. Children enjoy a tour of the Gallery followed by a workshop based on artworks on display.
