Gecko's Indoor Play Centre
Geckos is the perfect place to bring the kids on one of those days where it is just too rainy or hot to do anything. Air conditioned and fully indoors, you are protected from the weather extremes Cairns can sometimes bring.
Kids from 6 months to about 11 years are catered for with 3 separate play areas set up each with their own jumping, climbing and sliding fun. The double slide in the big kids area leaves my stomach in my mouth - the kids love it.
A cafe is there with healthy and not so healthy snacks for the kids and accompanying adults. There is plently of seating for accompanying adults as well as tables and high chairs.
Things to be aware of...
You are not allowed to bring your own food into the centre.
All kids (and parents) in the play areas must wear socks, you can BYO or hire them there.
The adult entry fee includes a free drink.
It can get very noisy and hectic on non school rainy hot days. My tip is to arrive early and wear the kids out before lunch - afternoon nap guaranteed after a visit to Gecko's - gotta love that!
