The Pirate Ship

The Fun Ship playground is one of the most well known meeting places for mums and dads in the Cairns area. Locally referred to as the "pirate ship", this playground has ample space and lots to do for kids of all ages. Not only is the great playground full of climbing and imaginative play, but the trees and paths surrounding give a great base for all sorts of fun games like hide and seek, tree climbing and bike riding. Take the tricycle along with you to double the fun! The playground is also near a section of the beach that has plenty of sand and tiny shells to play with and collect.

There are two picnic tables, a large free BBQ facility and plenty of picnic space. There are no cafe's or shops close by so make sure you bring water and snacks for rumbly tummies!

There is a toilet close by (a very welcome new addition late 2012!). The playground does have sun shades, but the surrounding areas do not, so remember to apply sunscreen and wear hats.

The only down side to this great area is that this playground is close enough to the mangroves to have some 'midgees' about - especially if there is no wind. Apply insect repellant and let the games begin!
