There are many factors that come into play when considering a great night’s sleep. Many people think about the mattress that they sleep on as a major contributing factor, they consider the ambient air temperature, the surrounding noise, etc. But not many people actually consider the humble pillow. The pillow is actually extremely important when it comes to having great sleep. And not having the right pillow can easily have you winding up with a neck ache and major headaches.

Pillows are very important for your sleep because they play a huge part in your sleep posture. Sleep posture is basically the alignment of your bones from your head, neck, all the way to your feet. If you’ve ever replaced your pillow for one that is significantly different than what you’re used to, you may find that you wake up with a neckache and a need to massage it out of you. If you are a side sleeper, you actually have the most natural and healthy sleeping posture, but you will also require a bit of a firmer pillow than the other types in order to maintain proper sleeping posture. Why, because if not for a firm pillow, your head might hang at an unnatural angle and make it tough to get a good night’s sleep. A firmer pillow will ensure that you take some of the weight off of your shoulder and that you are able to relax fully and enjoy your night of sleep. The humble pillow is undoubtedly one of the most important components of a good night’s rest.
